Danny Seim began the Lackthereof project in 1997. His other band, Menomena, started as a side project in 2000 and took over because Seim felt less self-conscious as a drummer than as a singer-songwriter. The first six Lackthereof releases were CD-Rs that Seim gave away freely to friends. This ended in 2004, when Portland, OR indie label FILMguerrero released christian the christian.

The new album, your anchor, was performed entirely by Seim, and was recorded and mixed in his basement in Portland, and is available now in the shop.

Lackthereof release Your Anchor [ 21 Jul 2008 ]

Lackthereof is the solo project of Danny Seim (who also plays drums in Menomena). Your anchor was performed entirely by Danny, and was recorded and mixed in his basement in Portland. Barsuk is stoked to release this collection of (not so very lo-fi) lo-fi gems, on CD (and via various digital music services) on July 22nd, and on beautiful white vinyl on September 2nd. The CD will be shipping sometime in the next few days, but the LP won't be ready until early September — however, if you pre-order the LP between now and release date (Sep. 2), you'll be given a single-use code to download the entire album as high-quality MP3 files, so you don't have to wait to hear the delicious tunes.

Danny Seim, drummer for Menomena and all-around nice guy, took his long-time project Lackthereof to a stage in Portland this past weekend for a rare performance. A short video from the performance (including a brief interview at the end) is up now on the Pampelmoose site — Danny's new album, your anchor, will be out on CD July 22nd (with the LP version out in early September).

Danny Seim plays drums and sings in the band Menomena. He has also been making music under the name Lackthereof for a long time. Barsuk Records is honored to announce that we will be releasing the new Lackthereof record, entitled your anchor, this July.
