"Mit Rilo Kiley kommt mir eine richtige Überraschung ins Haus gesegelt, die ich so gar nicht erwartet hatte. Als erstes fällt schon mal das geniale Artwork auf, das sich passend zum Titel der Platte mit den technischen Aspekten eines Flugzeugs auseinandersetzt. Es kommt dabei nicht irgendwie klinisch oder synthetisch rüber, sonder im Gegenteil. Auch die Musik ist alles andere als synthetisch, denn handgemachter und organischer könnte sie wahrscheinlich kaum sein. Als erstes besticht der sehr gute weibliche Gesang, der immer wieder neue Melodien und Harmonien erzeugt, die so zuckersüß daherkommen, dass man gar nicht anders kann, als sie zu lieben. Die Songs kommen in bester Singer/Songwriter Manier daher und bleiben aber nicht in diesem Rahmen gefangen, sondern rocken an den richtigen Stellen auch schon mal ordentlich nach vorne. So sollte es sein. "Take Offs And Landings" hat eigentlich alles, was ein gutes Popalbum braucht. Kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen."  (Music-Scan)
