Barsuk is pleased to announce that "Kept Secrets" from the forthcoming David Bazan record Blanco (out May 13) has premiered at Stereogum.

"The legend of 'Kept Secrets' is that I wrote it alone on tour in a cabin in the mountains," Bazan says about the newly released track. "That also happens to be in the delta with synth sounds that I made from tightly looping shards of noise that I had originally created by feeding a thrift store mixer back into itself. Which is something I did in headphones at night in my hotel room for recreation after playing the shows night after night that spawned the problem that this song is ostensibly about, thus achieving ouroboros."

Barsuk is happy to announce that a new David Bazan full-length entitled Blanco will be released on May 13. A North American tour in support of the record begins June 8 at The Bartlett in Spokane, WA. In celebration, Bazan premiered "Trouble With Boys" at Paste, who said, "David Bazan is one of those rare birds with a consistently impressive almost 20-year career, during which he seems to have made sport of challenging himself artistically... 'Trouble With Boys,' the first single from his upcoming release Blanco, is no exception."

"Maybe you're at a parking lot carnival at magic hour with your two best friends, and just before the first big roller coaster drop, you go under a sign that says: 'YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE,'" said Bazan of the track. "But actually, you're on tour and in a hotel room in Nashville on your night off recording a song with a tiny synthesizer you just bought and a delay pedal, and you're really proud of your new song."
