Charly Bliss announce new album, premiere video for "Capacity"

Charly Bliss have announced their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough, with a video for its lead single "Capacity". The band spoke with The FADER about the forthcoming album and said "Capacity" is "an anti-people pleaser anthem, and the whole album is a celebration of extreme, expedited growth. The songs are about a really dark, difficult moment in my life, and how it feels to come out at the other end of something like that. Sometimes, in order to grow you have to take stock of your behavior and thought patterns, as well as people who once served you but don't anymore." Young Enough is available for pre-order now, and out May 10th. 06 Feb 2019

Small Feet "With Psychic Powers"

With Psychic Powers, the sophomore effort from Swedish artist Small Feet, is due March 29. In anticipation of the upcoming release Brooklyn Vegan is premiering the album's first single, "Let the Guys Down." Listen to the track at Brooklyn Vegan.

Recorded over the winter of 2017-18 at frontman and songwriter Simon Stålhamre's own Studio Kvastis in Stockholm, the album marks a move in a more experimental direction from Stålhamre's critically acclaimed debut full-length, 2015's From Far Enough Away Everything Sounds Like the Ocean which received praise from The New York Times, NPR/WXPN's "World Café," Clash, MOJO, KEXP and many more while earning Stålhamre positive comparisons to Neil Young and Jason Molina. 31 Jan 2019

Active Bird Community premieres new track via Stereogum

Brooklyn-based Active Bird Community today shared a new track "Somewhere ft. Samia" via Stereogum. ABC's lead guitarist Andrew Wolfson says, "'Somewhere' is a song about escapism. I wrote it during a time in my life when I experienced the most intense effects of alcoholism and depression. I'm happy to say I've been alcohol-free for over a year and I plan to spend the rest of my life that way. I feel extremely lucky to have had Samia breathe new life into this song and help turn it into something of its own." Samia adds, "'Somewhere' is so powerfully sincere. Andrew's voice is heartbreaking and his lyrics are, somehow, ambiguous without leaving anything unsaid. It's an honor to sing on this song and to know this band."

The new collaborative single follows the release of Active Bird Community's latest album Amends, and an extensive North American headlining tour with Samia supporting last fall. The band has also announced their next and biggest headlining hometown show to date at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on March 2nd. They're currently on tour with Charly Bliss. 17 Jan 2019

Laura Gibson premieres self-directed video for "I Don't Want Your Voice To Move Me"

Laura Gibson premiered her new video for "I Don't Want Your Voice To Move Me," off her acclaimed album Goners, via Brooklyn Vegan. Directed by Gibson herself, the video was shot over two days across her home state of Oregon, from the forest near Portland, to the Alvord Desert in the Southeastern corner of the state.

Gibson has also been named a curator for the Joyful Noise Recordings White Label Series that highlights favorite unknown or under-appreciated artists (other 2019 curators include St Vincent, Julianna Barwick, Circuit des Yeux, Prince Rama, Sondra Lerche, Thurston Moore, Yonatan Gat). She has selected Kele Goodwin's 2010 album, Hymns, which has never been issued on vinyl and will be released via the series next month. Gibson and Goodwin will be performing two special Oregon shows to celebrate the release, on March 21st in Sisters and March 23rd in Portland.

Gibson is currently on the road in support of Goners. 16 Jan 2019

NPR Music premieres full stream of Laura Gibson's "Goners"

Laura Gibson today premiered a full stream of her forthcoming new album Goners via NPR Music's First Listen series, where it can be heard all week leading up to its October 26 release. Listen now here. The album stream follows lead single "Tenderness," which premiered via The FADER ("Rejoice, for Laura Gibson has finally released new music") in late August, and a video for "Domestication" — co-directed by Gibson and Alicia Rose — which premiered earlier this month via NPR Music ("Gibson has grown louder, bolder and occasionally weirder in songs that can thunder ominously. Goners...is her most adventurous yet"). Pre-order Goners now here.

Gibson's tour of major US markets begins next month with a hometown Portland, OR show on November 2. More dates will be announced soon. 18 Oct 2018
