Charly Bliss share "Hard To Believe" video

Charly Bliss shared a video for "Hard To Believe" today, the latest from their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough. Noisey, who premiered the Henry Kaplan-directed video today is saying "the Brooklyn band's latest preview of their forthcoming sophomore effort might be their best yet." and is calling it "an anthemic, literal kiss-off that features one of the band's most explosive choruses of their catalogue."

While the video is a playful homage to A Perfect Circle's "Judith", of the song Eva Hendricks says: "'Hard To Believe' is a song about being addicted to a bad relationship, and the endless cycle of trying and failing to end one.

"We shot the video on 35mm film over two days with our close friend Henry Kaplan 24 hours after returning from SXSW. Henry did a spectacular job of incorporating each of our personalities into this video, as well as providing a slightly fantastical, but ultimately realistic portrayal of a typical band practice. While we're running songs, each band-member usually has their own inner-monologue running of either things they're distracted by, or things they'd rather be doing. This video feels extremely 'us' and I don't think we could have made it with anyone else."

Young Enough is available for pre-order now and due out May 10. 10 Apr 2019

Charly Bliss share "Chatroom" video

Today, Charly Bliss have shared a video for "Chatroom", the second single from their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough. Jezebel, who debuted the Maegan Houang-directed video today and spoke with the band's Eva Hendricks, are calling it "rage therapy through pop music".

Of the song Hendricks says, "I was sexually assaulted by someone I dated and I wrote 'Chatroom,' and most of Young Enough, as a way of processing that experience and explaining it to myself. 'Chatroom' is a song about reaching ecstatic joy through consuming rage. Simply put, it's a colossal 'fuck you' and a celebration of reaching the point of a 'fuck you' that isn't diluted by self-blame or apologies.

"I feel so lucky to have worked with Maegan Houang on this video. I felt an immediate sense of mutual trust, and she produced a treatment that directly addresses the themes of trauma, misogyny and mind control without resorting to a literal representation of the lyrics. It's tonally the darkest video we've ever made, and I think it anchors the intent of song which might otherwise be obscured by the fact that it's also our most direct foray into larger-than-life pop music."

Young Enough is available for pre-order now and due out May 10. Additionally, Charly Bliss has announced an extensive North American headlining tour this summer and European tour in May. 06 Mar 2019

Charly Bliss announce new album, premiere video for "Capacity"

Charly Bliss have announced their highly anticipated new album, Young Enough, with a video for its lead single "Capacity". The band spoke with The FADER about the forthcoming album and said "Capacity" is "an anti-people pleaser anthem, and the whole album is a celebration of extreme, expedited growth. The songs are about a really dark, difficult moment in my life, and how it feels to come out at the other end of something like that. Sometimes, in order to grow you have to take stock of your behavior and thought patterns, as well as people who once served you but don't anymore." Young Enough is available for pre-order now, and out May 10th. 06 Feb 2019

Small Feet's "Bad Science" video premieres via Billboard

In anticipation of the upcoming release of With Psychic Powers, the sophomore effort from Swedish artist Small Feet out tomorrow, Billboard is premiering the video for the track "Bad Science."

Small Feet also recently premiered the first single from With Psychic Powers, "Let the Guys Down," via Brooklyn Vegan, as well as the video for the track "Masquerade" via FLOOD. Of the "Masquerade" video, FLOOD notes, "The song's delicate yearnings and shuffled rhythms are visualized through a conceptual music video that mirrors the lyrics' frustrations. The clip takes a profound look at modern mating rituals, often reduced to little more than an exchange of staged photographs."

Small Feet is set to tour Europe throughout the spring in support of the new album. 28 Mar 2019

Nada Surf debut single "Song for Congress"

Nada Surf have shared a video for the stand-alone single "Song for Congress", available now at digital services everywhere. Matthew Caws, front man for the critically acclaimed New York trio, says, "I've written a few political songs over the years but most of them have remained in a desk drawer unfinished – they're hard to write and can feel futile. But when I read about the separation of families at the US-Mexico border, I felt compelled to try again. Like most people learning of the tragic situation there, I was outraged and upset. After calling the offices of my state representatives and leaving messages urging them to take some kind of action, I wished there was something more I could do. A thought occurred to me: what if I could speak directly to a congressperson or senator through a song? I knew that anyone on Capitol Hill actually hearing it was a moonshot, but I also knew that music can travel in unexpected ways and that it was at least worth trying."

Caws has posted more about the process of writing the song, the experience of touring the Capitol building with former House Speaker John Boehner's Deputy Chief of Staff, his "long American roots" (as he refers to in the song) and his thoughts on living through these tumultuous times on the band's social media accounts, which you can read here. 27 Mar 2019
